Is Elon Musk stepping down as CEO of Twitter?

Questions are swirling as to whether Elon Musk will step down as CEO of Twitter, having posted a poll on the platform asking if he should.

There were more than 17 million votes, with a majority (57.5%) of respondents saying yes, compared to 42.5% saying no.

Having said he would “abide by the results of the poll,” Musk has many people now wondering if he’ll follow through on his promise.

Just yesterday, he also tweeted cryptically: “Those who want power are the ones who least deserve it” and “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it.”

Since taking over in early November, the new CEO has terminated the employment of nearly half the staff – though the company subsequently recalled some employees.

There are plenty of lessons to be learned from the layoffs — and the risks of overhiring — according to experts who spoke with Canadian HR Reporter.

Controversial moves

Since taking the helm a few months ago, Musk has faced his fair share of controversy.

Just recently, photos surfaced showing makeshift beds being set up in conference rooms and other offices at the San Francisco location.

And in November, the company laid down the law for workers providing a hard deadline to submit to Musk’s new rules, saying, “Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore.”

Also in November, in his first email to staff after taking over as CEO of Twitter, Musk informed employees they can no longer work from home.
