Short-staffing biggest issue for employees: Union
The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the union representing more than 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, welcome health-care professionals from Westpark Healthcare Centre in Toronto on Oct. 22.
The employees have become increasingly concerned about short-staffing at the Toronto hospital, said the union.
“They contacted ONA after seeing the union stand up for its registered nurse members at Westpark and were keen to become members,” said ONA President Vicki McKenna, RN.
ONA represents more than 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
