5-Star Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Employers for 2024 revealed

In today's rapidly evolving workplace, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has become a fundamental pillar of many successful organizations.

Leading companies across Canada are not only acknowledging the critical importance of fostering diverse and inclusive environments but actively implementing strategies to embed these values into their corporate DNA — leading to gains in innovation, employee engagement and organizational resilience.

Top DEI employers are distinguished by an unwavering commitment to creating workplaces where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their best. These organizations are rolling out initiatives such as robust employee resource groups (ERGs), inclusive hiring practices, and continuous education initiatives that challenge biases and promote a culture of belonging.

That is why Canadian HR Reporter is proud to reveal the 5-Star Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Employers for 2024, which includes top employers such as:

“Overall, the question of diversity and inclusion [is] at the forefront of companies. They can no longer afford not to address it, because this is what the clients and the general public expect you to do,” says Awad Ibrahim, holder of the Air Canada Professorship of Anti-Racism at the University of Ottawa, in our special report on the top the importance of DEI.

“Since the 1960s, Canada has been a pioneer in terms of thinking and purposefully working on the question of integration, sense of belonging, sense of identity, multiculturalism, and diversity.”

Methodology

By spotlighting the exemplary efforts of these leading DEI employers, we aim to showcase best practices and inspire other organizations to elevate their own DEI initiatives.

To determine the companies with the most effective DE&I programs, Canadian HR Reporter first invited organizations to participate by filling out an employer form, which asked them to explain their diversity and inclusion initiatives and practices.

Next, employees from nominated companies were asked to fill out an anonymous form evaluating their workplace on a number of metrics. To be considered, each organization had to reach a minimum number of employee responses based on overall size.

Organizations that achieved an 80 percent or greater average satisfaction rating from employees were named
5-Star Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Employers for 2024.  Be sure to check out the full list of winners!
