Magazine names top 100 employers
Working Mother magazine has just released its 16th annual list of the 100 companies that best help working mothers balance their careers with their lives outside the office.
In compiling the list, editors of the magazine and independent analysts studied questionnaire responses completed by companies.
Examples of family-friendly perks include the following:
•Merck & Co.: auto maintenance for employees at its headquarters;
•SAS Institute Inc.: take-home dinners and a hairstylist three times a week; and,
•Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.: baby formula sent to employees’ homes for a newborn’s first year.
Some trends are evident from the list: 69 per cent of the top companies offer child care. More companies are also expanding or beginning to offer elder care services.
The complete list appears in the October issue of Working Mother.
