Laid-off workers at Guinness get free beer for up to 10 years.
Workers at a Guinness plant in Ireland which was scheduled for closure, voted to accept a severance package that includes free beer for up to 10 years.
According to the terms of the deal, the 140 laid-off workers will each receive about two bottles of beer a day. The workers voted four-to-one in favour of the deal.
The beer company also put its money where its mouth is – the workers will also get lump sum payments ranging from $61,000 to $227,000.
The plant is located in Dundalk, in northeastern Ireland, near the border with Northern Ireland.
