Volunteers honoured; ORHRI professional emeritus awards

Volunteers honoured

The Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario’s (HRPAO) first annual Volunteer Leadership Awards were presented on Sept. 28 at the Volunteer Leadership Conference in Toronto. The winners, elected from members of 28 chapter associations, are: Rachel Pineault, president, Timmins and District Human Resources Professionals Association, Fastest Growing Chapter award; Denise O’Brien, president, Lakeshore Human Resources Professionals Association, Highest Retention in a Chapter award; Rosanne Lasowski, president, Human Resources Professionals Association of Hamilton, Chapter of Excellence award; John DeGiacomo, president, Human Resources Professionals Association of Northwestern Ontario, Volunteer Innovation award; and John Friday, Human Resources Professionals Association Northwestern Ontario, Honourary Life award.

ORHRI professional emeritus awards

Three HR professionals were honoured at the Défi Meilleurs Employeurs gala evening on Oct. 5, during the annual conference of the Ordre des CRHA et CRIA du Québec (ORHRI) in Montreal. The Prix Professionnel Emérite (professional emeritus) is an honorary award presented to an HR management or industrial relations professional whose achievements have contributed to the advancement of the profession and who serves as a model. This year’s recipients of the award are Jacques Dignard, senior vice-president, HR, at credit union Desjardins Group and Maurice Lemelin, a professor at business school HEC Montréal. Geneviève Fortier’s contribution to the advancement of the profession and to the development of HR professionals was recognized with the Mérite du Conseil interprofessionnel du Québec award. Fortier is past-president of both the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations and ORHRI.
