Nearly half of Canadians with an e-mail address at work say it is the communications tool they use most
Just as one British telecommunications firm took the unusual step of banning e-mail use for internal communications a study shows that Canadian workers have come to rely on e-mail as their primary choice of communication.
Among Canadian workers with an e-mail address at work, 44 per cent said it is the tool they use most at work. The telephone came in second, with 28 per cent, and face-to-face meetings came in at 15 per cent.
Can’t live without it
More than half (53 per cent) of those with e-mail at work said it makes them more productive and they can’t live without it while 36 per cent said it makes no difference to their productivity.
The survey was conducted by KRC Research and was sponsored by the Oracle Corporation. Results are based on 500 telephone interviews across Canada.
