Unemployment rate falls to 41-year-low of 5.7 per cent
(Reuters) — Canada's economy added 78,600 jobs in December on gains in both full-time and part-time employment, according to Statistics Canada.
The jobless rate fell to 5.7 per cent, the lowest level since January 1976.
Employment in the goods-producing sector rose by a net 6,000 jobs, mostly in construction.
The services sector added 72,600 positions, mostly in finance, insurance, real estate and leasing.
