Demands restoration of highway signs named for labour leader
The British Columbia Federation of Labour has demanded that the minister of transportation restore signs designating a section of the Island Highway as Ginger Goodwin Way.
Ginger Goodwin was a former officer of the federation, as well as a miner. The federation also describes him as “a tireless advocate for the rights of working people.”
The signs were allegedly recently removed by the ministry. The federation’s president, Jim Sinclair, condemns their removal as “petty, offensive and partisan.”
