BC HRMA to become just HRMA
British Columbia’s human resources association has unveiled its new brand — and it is ditching B.C. from its official name.
Currently known as the British Columbia Human Resources Management Association (BC HRMA), the association unveiled its new name in an email to members on June 4. It also features the tagline, “The Voice of HR.” For more information, see www.voiceofhr.org.
The association plans to officially change its name to just HRMA at its annual general meeting on June 19.
“We are bursting with excitement over our new brand,” the email read. “Two years of hard work has culminated in a fresh new look and inspiring brand promise. While the official launch is not until this summer, we could not wait to share it with you.”
The association says the brand projects a “powerful, informative, authoritative and trustworthy voice.”
British Columbia is not the first association to drop the provincial moniker from its name. Ontario’s Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) dropped the “O” from its name in 2008. Quebec’s association — the Ordre des conseillers en resources humaines agrees — also omits the provincial name.
A tweet from @BCHRMA — the association's official Twitter channel — pointed out that the name change was required "because Yukon has joined us, so we are no longer strictly BC."
The association also posted the following video, titled "HRMA: Voice Equals Value":
