WorkSafeBC tests iPhone app for OHS regulations

Policies, guidelines and WCB standards available on app

WorkSafeBC's first iPhone app, The OHS Regulation, is ready for testing.

This new app allows the user to search and browse the occupational health and safety (OHS) regulation, policies, guidelines and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) standards on an iPhone. Because it loads directly onto the phone, users can access the information even if there is no cell phone reception, such as on a ferry, construction site, remote worksite or in the basement of a building. The app also provides regulation updates.

WorkSafeBC is seeking feedback from iPhone, iPad or iPod touch users to identify any glitches and get ideas for improvements.

Users can get the app by tapping the app store icon on the iPhone, searching for WorkSafeBC and downloading the app to the phone, free of charge. Once the app is downloaded, be sure to accept the update when it is first opened, as this will load the current version of the OHS regulation, policies, guidelines and WCB standards into the app.

Once the iPhone app is released to the public, WorkSafeBC will start working on Android and BlackBerry versions.

Feedback must be received by Feb. 14, 2011, and can be done by filling out the form found here: http://www2.worksafebc.com/forms/101123/101123.htm
