New construction alliance names Mike McKenna as leader
The BC Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA) has appointed Mike McKenna as its executive director.
The BCCSA's primary goal is to reduce construction workplace illness and injury.
"Mike's knowledge of the industry combined with his health and safety background will enable him to work with our employers and workers positively," said Wayne Fettback, chair of the BCCSA board of directors.
The BCCSA develops health and safety programs, tools and resources that are available to the more than 32,000 construction employers and their 180,000 workers.
McKenna began his career as an occupational therapist before moving to WorkSafeBC where he gained expertise in claims and then as a liaison with the construction industry assisting companies with assessment, claims and health and safety concerns.
Prior to joining BCCSA, McKenna was a director and shareholder with Orion Health where he was responsible for overseeing the provision of rehabilitation programs for injured workers.
