Five U.S. universities take spots in top 10
Graduates from the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo are among the most employable candidates for jobs next year as the two made it to the top 25 of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022.
"With students becoming increasingly conscious of the competitiveness of the global graduate jobs market, and of the ever-increasing financial costs of their educational investment, it is crucial that independent data of this sort is available to them, to inform evidence-based decisions about their educational futures," says Ben Sowter, director of research at QS.
The universities that made it to the list have demonstrated an ability to produce graduates with the 'soft skills' required for the modern workplace, according to the company.
Employers are currently having a hard time finding candidates with the right digital skills to help their business grow, according to a previous report.
Winners
Founded in 1827, the University of Toronto ranked 21st overall with a score of 85.5.

The University of Waterloo placed 24th with a score of 88.7. It previously ranked among the world’s top 175 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2021 and top 250 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021.

The U.S.’s Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) topped the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022 with a score of 100.
U.S. institutions Stanford University (second), University of California, Los Angeles (third), Harvard University (fifth) and Cornell University (ninth) also made it to the top 10 of the list.
Also among the 10 best schools in terms of employability score are the University of Sydney in Australia (fourth), Tsinghua University in China (sixth), the University of Oxford in the U.K. (seventh), the University of Melbourne in Australia (eighth) and the University of Hong Kong (10th).
Nearly a third of young people globally feel their current education is not preparing them with the skills they need to get jobs, according to a UNICEF report released in March 2020.
