Increases range from 30 to 50 cents
The minimum wage is going up in three provinces in October.
Manitoba, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia will see wage increases ranging from 30 to 50 cents an hour.
Manitoba’s minimum wage rate will rise from $9.50 per hour to $10 starting Oct. 1.
P.E.I.’s minimum wage will see an increase of 30 cents, bringing the rate up from $9.30 an hour to $9.60 on Oct. 1. The minimum wage will go up again on April 1, 2012, to $10 per hour.
Nova Scotia’s minimum wage rates will also increase effective Oct. 1. The general minimum wage rate will increase from $9.65 per hour to $10, while the rate for inexperienced workers (those employed less than three months) will rise from $9.15 per hour to $9.50.
