Jobless rate remains at 5.8 per cent
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada's economy lost a net 1,100 jobs in April, all in part-time employment, Statistics Canada said on Friday.
The jobless rate remained at 5.8 per cent.
Employment in the goods producing sector fell by 15,900 jobs, mostly in construction.
The services sector gained 14,800 positions, mostly in professional, scientific and technical services, as well as accommodation and services.

The average hourly wage was $27.66 in April, compared to $26.77 in April 2017, a 3.3 per cent change.
