Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2012, to March 31, 2016. Signed on Nov. 12, 2015.
Wage adjustments:
Effective upon ratification: 0.75%
Effective upon ratification: $500 retroactive payment
Shift premium: $1 per hour responsibility pay when an employee is required to carry out the responsibilities of a manager. 75¢ per hour for all time worked after 4 p.m. 75¢ per hour for all time worked on the weekend.
Paid holidays: 11 days and 1 floating holiday.
Vacations with pay: 1.667 days per month of service to start, 4 weeks after 1 year, 5 weeks after 15 years and 6 weeks after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked beyond 7.5 hours per day or 75 hours in a 2-week period.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums for VON Canada National Extended Health Care benefits. Employee’s monthly premiums are paid through payroll deductions.
Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums for VON Canada National dental benefits. Employee’s monthly premiums are paid through payroll deductions.
Sick leave: 1.5 days per month of service to a maximum of 120 days.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums for VON Canada National Long-Term Disability Plan.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for VON Canada National life insurance plan. Benefits provide for 2 times employee’s annual salary.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for employee’s spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, father-in-law or mother-in-law. 2 unpaid days for travel.
Seniority – recall rights: 2 years.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours at time and one-half.
Probationary period: 3 months.
Sample rates of pay (current, after 0.75% increase):
Nurse: $24.78 rising in 8 steps to $36.56
Editor’s notes: Pregnancy leave: 17 weeks. Parental leave: 37 weeks or 35 weeks if pregnancy leave taken. Paperwork: Nurses will be scheduled 1 paid hour per month for non-direct patient care purposes such as paperwork, meetings with managers or educational purposes (previously 1 paid hour per week). Standby: $2.10 per hour. Reporting pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay when an employee reports for work as scheduled but is not required to work.
