Wage increases, work limitations part of new deal: Union
Unifor, Local 114 members working at the Salvation Army distribution centre in Langley, B.C., ratified a new three-year collective agreement on Dec. 20.
“Workers at the distribution centre have a physically demanding job,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor national president. “Local 114 members have earned a fair contract.”
The new contract features wage increases in each of the three years while maintaining previously negotiated workweek limitations. It also includes more generous statutory holiday working requirements, said the union.
“This group bargained hard and their work paid off,” said Mark Misic, service representative at Unifor, Local 114.
Unifor Local 114 represents 35 truck drivers, driver assistants, dock workers and merchandise sorters at the distribution centre of the Salvation Army.
