Signing bonus, wage increase part of agreement
United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW) Canada Local 1518 members working at the Shoppers Drug Mart location on Davie Street in Vancouver have ratified a new collective agreement that brings improvements to wages, benefits and more, said the union.
The new contract drastically reduces the amount of hours that employees have to work before obtaining dental benefits. New language has also been added to the agreement to improve workplace safety, particularly for overnight employees, according to the union.
Members will also receive a signing bonus and off-scale wage increases of $0.25 to $0.30 per hour — dependent on the number of hours worked — in the second and third years of the agreement, said the union.
