Bob Kinnear has been removed from his job as head of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), according to media reports.
The Local 113 president found out Feb. 3 early in the morning that a trusteeship had effectively taken over management of the Toronto-based union offices. Seventeen workers lost their positions, according to a report.
The move comes on a reported attempt for the Canadian union to break away from its American counterpart.
So far, there have been no official statement released by the unions ATU or ATU Canada.
