Time may be banked, maximum 1 year. Unused time will be paid out.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Double time for work on employee’s regular day off.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of $75 once every 2 years for prescription lenses; $50 once every 2 years for eye exams.
Sick leave: 1 day per month, maximum 208 days in total. Unused days will not be paid out upon termination of employment.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Employer will provide pension plan (Municipal Employees Benefits Board Pension Plan or equivalent, to be subject to union agreement).
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in family (father, mother, spouse, common-in-law spouse, son, daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother, sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, stepparent, stepchild, a stepsibling (brother/sister)). 3 additional days if deceased is spouse, common-law spouse, son, daughter of employee. One-half to act as pallbearer at funeral.
Seniority – recall rights: 1 year.
Call-in pay: Minimum of 4 hours at basic rate of pay or time and one-half, whichever is greater. Minimum of 4 hours at basic rate of pay or double time, whichever is greater, for call-ins on days off or holidays. May be banked, maximum 120 hours per year, but will be paid out if unused by end of year.
Probationary period: 3 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.
Uniforms/clothing: $350 per year (previously $325 per year) for safety footwear, high-visibility parka, high-visibility insulated pants. Employer will provide high-visibility coveralls on as-required basis.
