Shift premium: Maximum 10% when employee temporarily assigned duties of position outside of bargaining unit for up to 6 weeks. $1.25 per hour if 50% or more of shift falls between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. $2 per hour while acting as transit operator lead hand.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus floater holiday in lieu of Easter Monday.
Vacations with pay: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 6 years, 5 weeks after 13 years, 6 weeks after 20 years.
Overtime: Double time for all hours worked after regular hours. May be banked at time and one-half, maximum 80 hours.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: After employee has worked 2,000 hours: 0.0692 hours per hour worked, maximum 200 days.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums for 70% of wages after 365 days of disability, maximum $3,000 per month, plus additional 50% of salary in excess of $3,000, maximum $4,500 per month.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 2-times annual salary, maximum $250,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 2-times annual salary, maximum $250,000.
Pension: Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (grandparent, parent, sibling, spouse of sibling, spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, grandparent, parent, sibling). Additional 2 days for death of spouse, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild. 2 additional days for travel more than 500 kilometres away. 1 day off to attend funeral to act as pallbearer. Additional 10 days if requested.
Seniority – recall rights: 1 year.
Call-in pay: Double time, minimum 2 hours' pay.
Probationary period: 1,000 hours paid.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
Safety shoes: $150 per year, may be carried over maximum $300. Additional $50 per year for employees working with asphalt or tack oil used in road construction or maintenance.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide protective safety clothing such as rubber boots, rain suits, gloves, mitts. Employer will provide 2 sets of coveralls per year to permanent-facility operators, maintenance, utility workers, equipment operators, gas-field labourers, gas-field operators, gas technicians, gas-utility workers, gas-engineering technologists, gas-customer service foreman, gas-plant services foreman, employees working on
equipment. Employer will provide laundry services for garage mechanics, parks mechanics and helpers, employees working in waste-water collection/treatment, and fleet services and transit-service workers, for 5 pairs of coveralls, once per week per person. Employer will provide 5 pairs of sized-summer coveralls to water distribution and wastewater collection employees. Employees in water distribution and wastewater collection will be given 1 fitted-winter jacket and 1 fitted-pair of winter salopettes and laundry service. Solid-waste collection employees will be given 5 pairs of summer coveralls, 1 winter jacket, 1 pair of salopettes and laundry service. Pesticide applicators will be given disposable coveralls. Employer will provide laundry service for storekeepers, for 1 smock, once per week, per person. Senior-services kitchen staff will be given hair nets and 5 wash-and-wear tops and aprons each.
Tool allowance: $37.50 per month for mechanics and heavy-duty mechanics. $8.33 per month for fleet services - service workers.
Mileage: During winter months (Dec. 1 to March 1), meter reader or tax assessor who uses personal vehicle on city business and vehicle is frequently stopped, parked and started or left idling, will be paid additional allowance of $2 per day.
