Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2016: $0.30 per hour
Effective Jan. 1, 2017: $0.30 per hour
Effective Jan. 1, 2018: $0.30 per hour
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: $0.40 per hour
Paid holidays: 9 days.
Vacations with pay: 4% on each paycheque.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked after 10 hours per day or 44 hours per week. Time and one-half for all hours worked on Saturday, unless inclement weather has prevented worker from reaching 44 hours that week. Double time for all hours worked on Sunday or statutory holiday.
Medical benefits: Employer contributes to the Labourers’ Multi-local Welfare Trust Fund of Ontario.
Pension: $1 per hour for Local 1059 group RRSP. Employer will contribute to the Labourers’ Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada.
Safety shoes: Employer will reimburse for work boots. Effective Jan. 1, 2017: $110. Effective Jan. 1, 2018: $120.
Uniforms/clothing: Every employee shall, as a condition of employment, be required to own and wear a Construction Safety Association of Ontario-approved safety helmet, protective footwear, safety glasses and hard hat.
Mileage: Employer will pay mileage on a zone basis. Zone A (40-kilometre radius from London, Ont., city hall): no mileage paid. Zone B (40- to 60-kilometre radius from London, Ont., city hall): $15 per day. Zone C (60- to 120-kilometre radius from London, Ont., city hall): $26 per day. Zone D (120- to 150-kilometre radius from London, Ont., city hall): $37 per day. Zone E (150-kilometre radius from London, Ont., city hall): $48 per day. For work more than 40 kilometres away from London, Ont., city hall: $0.53 per kilometre, to and from city hall to the jobsite.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 4% increase):
Basic labourers: $26.02 rising 3 steps to $27.22
Skilled labourers: $28.42 rising 3 steps to $29.62
Editor’s notes: Training requirements: Employees will be required to obtain certificates within 6 months of hiring: Standard First Aid; Introduction to Occupational Health and Safety Act; Propane Handling, Storage and Use; Cranes, Hoisting and Rigging; Working at Heights. Training fund: Employer will contribute $0.25 per hour to the Labourers’ International Union of North America Local 1059 Training Trust Fund. Room and board: $125 per day or suitable lodging for all work in the London, Ont., area, when employee is unable to return home each evening.
