Four-year deal reached after two days of talks: OPSEU
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) reached a tentative deal on Oct. 3 with the Ontario Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) that includes wage increases and not a single concession.
“The employer clearly remembered the incredible strength and resolve our MPAC members showed during the last round of bargaining,” said Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU president.
The four-year deal was reached after just two days at the table. The fact the deal was swiftly hammered out shows the employer recognizes OPSEU members are a force to be reckoned with, said Thomas.
The agreement provides annual wage increases of 1.9 per cent in each of the first three years and 1.75 per cent in the final year. All members will get $750 for health and wellness. It also includes a one-time payment for full-time members, to help offset the costs of affiliate and candidacy fees, said the union.
The 1,400 workers will vote on this agreement on Oct. 11. The bargaining team will provide details to the members through conference calls next week, said the union.
