Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2023. Signed on July 24, 2018.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2018: greater of national 12-month CPI rates as of Dec. 31 of previous year or 2.5%
Effective April 1, 2019: greater of national 12-month CPI rates as of Dec. 31 of previous year or 2.1%
Effective April 1, 2020: greater of national 12-month CPI rates as of Dec. 31 of previous year or 2.5%
Effective April 1, 2021: greater of national 12-month CPI rates as of Dec. 31 of previous year or 2.1%
Effective April 1, 2022: greater of national 12-month CPI rates as of Dec. 31 of previous year or 2.5%
Shift premium: $1.50 per hour (previously $1.25 per hour) for all hours worked, including overtime hours, between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. Premium not paid for work between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Effective April 1, 2019: $1.75 per hour. Effective April 1, 2020: $2 per hour. $1.25 per hour (previously $0.75 per hour) for all hours worked on Saturday, Sunday. $3 per hour (previously $2.75 per hour) to employees carrying out supervisory duties.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 1 1/4 days per month to start, 1 2/3 days per month after 8 years, 2 1/12 days per month after 17 years, 2 1/2 days per month after 27 years. Maximum 2 weeks may be carried over into new year under special circumstances.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after employees normal scheduled daily hour’s and for work on first day of rest. Double time for all hours after regular hours on day of rest. Double time for all work on second and subsequent day of rest and after 8.5 consecutive hours of overtime. May be taken as time off in lieu, maximum 10 days. All time not used by Oct. 31 each year will be paid out.
Meal allowance: $12 after 3 hours of overtime, except where free meals are provided.
Sick leave: 1 day per month.
Pension: Employer will match employee contributions, maximum 5.5% (previously maximum 5%), to self-directed registered retirement savings plan.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (employee or common-law spouse’s father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, spouse, child, stepchild, ward of employee, grandparent, grandchild, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in law, sister-in law, sister relative permanently residing in employee’s household). 2 additional days for travel if required. 1 day for death of aunt, uncle.
Call-in pay: Greater of 4 hours’ pay at straight time rate or applicable overtime rate for time worked. $0.55 per kilometre (previously $0.505 per kilometre) each time employee is called into work. Meal allowance will be paid for each 8 hours of work.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for level 1 (formal letter of reprimand; notice on file of verbal warning, but no suspension); 24 months for level 2 (suspension without pay for maximum 5 days); 48 months for level 3 (suspension without pay for more than 5 days). Severance: 1 week’s pay for each year of service.
Uniforms/clothing: Protective clothing will be provided to employees required to wear them on duty. Employer will pay $250 per year (previously $200 per year) to each employee for safety footwear, uniform shirts, pants, skirts, blazers, jackets, parkas, T-shirts, sweaters. Employer will provide non-prescription eyewear.
