Minimum wage to rise to $10, minimum call-out becomes $30
Saskatchewan’s minimum wage will increase to $10 per hour, effective Dec. 1, the province said. As a result, minimum call-out pay in the province will increase to $30.
The minimum wage in Saskatchewan was previously $9.50.
This increase will affect approximately 22,000 minimum wage earners in Saskatchewan, representing about five per cent of the paid workforce in Saskatchewan, the government said.
"Saskatchewan's economy has been growing and it is only right that the minimum wage increase as well," Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said. "Minimum wage has increased by 25.8 per cent since 2007."
The province first announced the increase at the beginning of October.
