Provincewide, New Brunswick (400 operating engineers) and International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE)
Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 25, 2016, to June 30, 2018. Signed on Jan. 25, 2016.
Paid holidays: 10 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks per year for permanent employees. 10% paid weekly.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked on Saturday, Sunday or statutory holidays.
Meal allowance: Hot meal of $15 will be provided for more than 2 hours of overtime work and each subsequent 4 hours.
Pension: Labourers' Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada. Employer contributes $3.50 per hour to fund. Effective July 1, 2017: $3.60 per hour.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (wife, child, mother, father). 3 days for death of brother, sister. 1 day for death in extended family (grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew).
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply safety helmets, rain suits, rubber boots.
Tool allowance: $150 when employee’s tools are damaged or destroyed by fire or lost while under employer’s lock and key.
Mileage: $0.35 per hour when job site is outside 35-kilometre radius of Saint John, St. Andrews, Sussex, Gagetown.

Labourers: $18.74 rising 2 steps to $20.15
Mason helper (tender): $22.72 rising 2 steps to $23.58
Editor’s notes: Termination notice: When employment is terminated, an employee will be allowed 10 minutes to collect tools and personal effects. Sanitary facilities: The employer will provide adequate and sanitary toilet and washroom facilities, equipped with wash basins, soap, cloth or paper towels and supplies and whenever possible, with hot and cold water, when there are more than 5 employees at a job site. Remote jobs: When job site is more than 80 kilometres away from radius of Saint John, St. Andrews, Sussex, Gagetown, $100 per day will be given for room and board, plus travelling time, maximum 8 hours.
