Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: Arctic trip: $25 for each day onboard while in the Arctic (north of the 54th parallel). Seniority bonus: $1,500 on 10-year anniversary, $2,000 on 15-year anniversary, $2,500 on 20-year anniversary.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked after 12 hours per day or 84 hours per week (51 days on/51 days off rotation) or after 8 hours per day (60 days on/30 days off rotation).
Medical benefits: 80% premiums paid by employer, 20% by employee.
Pension: Group RSP 7% employer contribution.
Bereavement leave: 10 days, plus transportation costs for immediate family (father, mother, spouse, child, brother, sister). 5 days, plus transportation costs for other family (parents-in-law and grandparents).
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Probationary period: 90 days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
Severance: 5 days for each year.
Safety shoes: $175 year.
Uniforms/clothing: 1 pair coveralls, 2 more during first 12 months. Maximum 3 per year (1 pair insulated). Sufficient supply of work gloves.
Mileage: Cost of transportation from airport to vessel is covered.
Sample rates of pay (current, after 8.2% increase):
Leading seaman: $24.98 rising 4 steps to $27.04
Seaman: $21.70 rising 4 steps to $23.49
QMED: $21.70 rising 4 steps to $23.49
Cook: $24.98 rising 4 steps to $27.04
General duty: $17.85 rising 4 steps to $19.32
Editor’s notes: Fitness exam: Company pays reasonable costs for each employee to obtain Transport Canada Medical certificate. Transportation costs: Reimburse reasonable expenses for joining, leaving, or transferring to and from a ship. $100 per day travel allowance if detained overnight. Drug/alcohol policy: Random testing without prior notice, no drugs or alcohol permitted on board, employees returning to duty must be absolutely sober. Family visits: While in port, employee’s spouse or children (older than 12 years) are allowed on board. Marine disaster: Maximum $2,500 for loss of clothing or other personal effects because of a marine disaster or shipwreck.
