Renewal agreement: Effective Aug. 1, 2017, to July 31, 2021. Ratified on Sept. 5, 2017. Signed on Aug. 1, 2017.
Shift premium: $2.18 per hour for work between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. (Does not apply to day employees). 7% of prevailing tradesmen’s rate to senior qualified maintenance 1 for acting as maintenance-group leader and to senior qualified electrician 1 for acting as electrical-group leader. $1.25 per hour for dual-trade premium.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 8 hours per month, maximum 80 hours to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 20 years, 6 weeks after 25 years.
Overtime: Double time for all work in excess of normal daily schedule or for all work in excess of regular hours in pay period.
Meal allowance: Meal will be provided if employee works more than 2 hours of overtime. Second meal after 6 hours of overtime. Provision does not apply if employee is working regular shift on scheduled day off.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for reimbursement based on current Alberta dental fee schedule.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 63% of weekly earnings, maximum $1,000 per week.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 60% of monthly earnings, maximum monthly benefit of $4,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 1 times employee’s base rate.
Pension: Owens Corning Canada Pension Plan for Hourly-Rated Employees.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of spouse, mother, father, child, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchildren, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew. 1 day to attend funeral for any family relationship not identified above.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum payment of 4 hours’ pay at basic rate, except where employee starts to work 4 hours or less before regular starting time, in which case overtime payment will be based on hours actually worked.
Probationary period: 50 working days.
Severance: 1 week’s pay for each year of service, maximum 26 weeks pay, after 1 year of service.
Safety shoes: $175 per year for CSA-approved safety footwear. May be carried forward, maximum $350 per 24-month period. Individually fitted CSA-approved rubber boots will be provided, if requested, to all employees working in forming area. Boots will be issued for forming operators (1, 2, first reserve) furnace-forehearth operators, furnace-forehearth coordinator and reserve, maximum $350 per 12 months.
