Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2019. Ratified on July 5, 2018. Signed on July 5, 2018.
Wage adjustments:
Effective year 1 and 2: Signing bonus, minimum $500
Effective year 3: $0.50 per hour
Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for any employee that acts as temporary supervisor. $0.35 per hour for work between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. $0.50 per hour more than basic rate of pay or $0.50 per hour more than highest rate in-group employee is leading as lead-hand.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; on first scheduled day of rest. Double time for all work on second scheduled day of rest.
Meal allowance: $10 if employee is required to work unscheduled overtime in excess of 1 hour before or beyond normal shift or combination thereof which totals 1 hour.
Medical benefits: Alberta Health-Care Insurance Plan will be made available to all employees after 6 months of service.
Dental: 100% coverage for basic services. 50% coverage for major restorative services, maximum $1,500 per year. 50% coverage for orthodontics, lifetime maximum $1,500 for dependent children younger than 20.
Vision: $200 every 24 months for adults, every 12 months for children.
Weekly indemnity: 70% weekly earnings, maximum $500 for 17 weeks.
AD&D: Maximum $25,000.
Life insurance: Maximum $25,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute $0.30 per hour (previously $0.25 per hour) into Canadian Commercial Workers’ Industry Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, sister-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, common-law spouse, grandchildren). 4 additional days if death occurs outside Alberta. 1 day for death of grandparent.
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours of work or 4 hours of pay at applicable overtime rate.
Probationary period: 90 days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for written disciplinary reprimands.
Safety shoes: $125 per year for safety footwear.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply protective clothing (freezer coats, gloves, hair/beard nets, smocks, coveralls, sleeves and aprons).
Tool allowance: $200 per year for each maintenance employee. Employer shall reimburse tradesmen for loss of tools and cabinets damaged by fire or disaster — not caused by any employee — while on company property.
