Deal includes better pension contributions, wage increases, improved meal and shoe allowances: IAM
Members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 235 ratified a new collective agreement with Mettler Toledo on Oct. 2.
The three-year agreement provides a lump-sum signing bonus as well as wage increases of 1.5 per cent in the first year — retroactive to Dec. 3, 2016 — 2.25 per cent in the second year and two per cent in the third year, said the union.
Other agreement highlights include increases to the meal allowance, higher pension contributions, improved eye-care benefits, better group insurance and an increase to the shoe allowance
The 21 workers include service technicians and warehouse personnel. Mettler Toledo is a global manufacturer of precision instruments and services for use in laboratories and manufacturing.
