Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 30, 2017, to May 31, 2020. Signed on Jan. 30, 2017.
Paid holidays: Employee will receive 3.6% holiday indemnity per hour.
Vacations with pay: 4% pay.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 40 hours per week.
Sick leave: Sick leave observed is without pay (previously 1 day per month, maximum 6 days per year).
Bereavement leave: 1 day for death of spouse, child, child of spouse, father, mother, brother, sister. 4 additional unpaid days if required. 1 unpaid day for death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, spouse’s father, mother, brother or sister.
Probationary period: 2 consecutive academic terms in each of which employee has worked at least 25 hours.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide all security equipment required to perform required tasks such as security footwear, security glasses and work gloves.
Sample rates of pay (current):
Class A: $13.75
Sample rates of pay (current, after increase):
Class B: $13.75 rising 3 steps to $14.25
Class C: $13.75 rising 3 steps to $14.50
Editor’s notes: Union activities: Employer will pay union amount equivalent to 6 casual employees for workload of 300 hours at class C salary rate. Amount will be distributed among members of executive committee as seen fit by union. 12 months prior to expiry of collective agreement, employer will pay union amount equivalent to 2 casual employees for workload of 200 hours at class C salary rate, for union to prepare for negotiations of new agreement. Standby pay: $12.24 (previously $12) for each 8-hour period when employee remains on standby.
