Deal includes changes to pay, classifications, working conditions
At the Association of McGill University Support Employees (AMUSE) ratification assembly Jan. 10, the membership voted to approve a tentative deal.
The vote passed with 84 per cent in favour. The new collective agreement will come into effect as soon as it is signed by the two parties — likely in the next few weeks — and changes to pay, job classifications, and other working conditions will come into effect immediately, according to the union.
This collective agreement comes following more than one-and-a-half years of bargaining and a five-day strike this past October, said the union.
Among these changes are increases to the minimum wage for all three job classifications, regular pay increases and more resources for the union to do its work, said AMUSE.
