Retroactive wage increases part of five-year contract: UFCW
Firefighters in the municipality of Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, Que., who are represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW) Canada, Local 501, achieved a new union contract on Sept. 16 that provides wage increases and minimum hours of work.
The new collective agreement runs until December 2023 and provides retroactive wage increases of 11 percent over five years, a minimum of three paid hours per call and higher meal allowances, says the union.
“We are very happy with the outcome of these negotiations,” says Alain Lachaîne, UFCW, Local 501 president. “The new contract for the firefighters in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard not only reflects both parties’ interests, but also respects taxpayers.”
