Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2020. Signed on Jan. 31, 2017.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2018: $0.11 per hour
Effective April 1, 2019: $0.11 per hour
Shift premium: Awake overnight: $1.80 per hour. Kwik-Shred: $1.01 per hour. Employer assignment to a higher paying classification: hourly rate differential between employee’s current rate of pay and applicable rate of pay of higher classification, in accordance with grid steps. Home facilitators who are required to stay awake between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. will receive awake-overnight premium of$3.50 per hour.
Paid holidays: 10 days plus 4 floater days. After 20 years of service, 1 additional floater day. After 30 years of service, 1 additional floater day. Home facilitators will receive additional 3 floating holidays per year.
Vacations with pay: 120 hours after 1 year, 160 hours after 5 years, 200 hours after 10 years, 240 hours after 15 years. Long-service recognition: Employees who reach 25th, 30th, 35th and 40th employment anniversary will receive additional 3 days of vacation for that year only.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after regular hours. May be accumulated, maximum 40 hours.
Meal allowance: $11 (previously $10) when employee is required to work during meal hours. When dining out for business purposes, employer will pay: $16 for breakfast (previously $15), $20 for lunch (previously $18), $25 for supper (previously $21).
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25%.
Vision: $200 every 24 months for dependants older than 18; $200 every 12 months for dependants younger than 18.
Sick leave: 5.54 hours per pay period, maximum 144 hours. Employer will make 2 lump-sum payments of $175 to employees who use no sick days between Jan. 1 and June 30, and between July 1 and Dec. 31 each year.
Life insurance: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% for 2-times salary for natural causes, 4-times for accidental death.
Pension: Employer contributes minimum 2%, employee contributes minimum 2% to designated retirement fund. Employee may increase contribution, which will be matched by employer, maximum 5%. Employer will contribute additional 1% for employees after 20 years of service.
Bereavement leave: 8 days (previously 7 days) for death of spouse, child, stepchild, mother, father. 5 days for death of stepmother, stepfather, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister. 3 days for death of mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents, grandchild.
Seniority – recall rights: 24 months.
Probationary period: 4 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months, 24 months for written warning or suspension.
Safety shoes: Employer will provide safety boots or shoes as required.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide coveralls, uniforms and any other special or protective equipment as required.
Mileage: $0.50 per kilometre. Employees who travel in excess of 400 kilometres per month will be paid additional $0.01 per kilometre.

Editor’s notes: CUPE convention: Employer will provide 5 working days’ paid leave of absence to 1 employee who is selected by union to attend biennial CUPE national convention. Pager: When employee carries pager, normal assigned period will begin at 3 p.m. on Monday and end at 3 p.m. following Monday. Employees will receive either 20-hour lieu time accreditation or 20 hours of pay. Employees on-call on weekends from Friday at 4:30 p.m. to Monday at 8:30 a.m. will receive $600 stipend plus 8 hours lieu time or 24 hours lieu time at employee’s option. Additional $250 plus 12 hours lieu time or 20 hours lieu time at employee’s option. Joint staff education committee: Each employee will contribute $0.025 per hour for staff education and conference fund.
