Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2019. Signed on June 13, 2016.
Wage adjustments:
Effective July 1, 2015: 1.75%
Effective July 1, 2016: 1.75%
Effective July 1, 2017: 1.75%
Effective July 1, 2018: 1.75%
Shift premium: Overtime rate paid when worker is higher than 40 feet, minimum 1 hour.
Paid holidays: 12 days. Employees will receive one-half day off immediately before Christmas and New Year’s day, if those days fall on a week day.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 21 years. 1 week may be carried forward per year.
Overtime: Double time for all hours worked outside regular hours. 10 days overtime may be banked, must be used or paid out within 6 months. Time and one-half for overtime hours spent travelling to and from job site.
Meal allowance: When working more than 2 hours' overtime: $11 for breakfast ; $15 for lunch; $24 for dinner.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Vision: $350 every 2 years.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Group RRSP plan. Employer contributes 7%, employee contributes 3%.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (parents, spouse, children, brothers, sisters, parents-in-law, grandparents). 5 additional days if employee must travel more than 700 kilometres.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Probationary period: 4 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year.
Severance: 1 week for every year of service for workers with less than 10 years on the job. 2 weeks for every year of service for workers with more than 10 years on the job, maximum 52 weeks.
Safety shoes: 1 pair of approved lineman boots every 5 years. $250 per year for safety boots.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply: hard hats, safety glasses, rain clothing, 5 cotton shirts, lineman gloves, 1 pair of high-visibility coveralls every 2 years, 2 pairs jeans per year, maximum $80.
Tool allowance: Employer will supply: tool pouch and belt, screw drivers (flat-tipped, Phillips, Robertson #6 and #8), razor knife or equivalent, nut drivers (5/16”, 3/8”, 7/16”, 1/2”), adjustable wrenches (8”, 10”), awl, flashlight, lineman pliers (Klein 9” or equivalent), 7” water-pump pliers, claw hammer, 4-pound sledge hammer. $15 per month for other tools.

Editor’s notes: High-voltage safety: No employee will be allowed to work on high-voltage power distribution wires alone, but must be accompanied by another employee (450 volts to ground or more than 20 watts RF power is considered high voltage). Driver’s licence: All employees are required, as a condition of employment, to maintain a valid British Columbia driver's licence. Early retirement allowance: For employees 60 years or older, with 20 or more years of service, a graduate allowance will be paid (age 60: 12 months of regular salary; age 61: 10 months of regular salary; age 62: 8 months of regular salary; age 63: 6 months of regular salary). Wellness days: 10 per year, 5 days may be converted into pay or vacation days at the end of the year. Cablevision service: $5-per-month fee for Cablevision service or $25 per month for Cablevision and Internet service where available (includes the modem). Travel allowance: When employee must work out of town (70-kilometre radius from employee’s normal place of employment) on temporary assignments: $70 per day, plus $15 for breakfast ; $25 for lunch; $30 for dinner.
