Shift premium: $1 per hour for work (other than overtime) between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. $0.25 per hour for operating field-service vehicle on day shift (7 a.m. to 4 p.m.). 7.48% extra for fire-response paramedics while conducting field training.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: Fire-suppression members: 144 hours after 1 year, 192 hours after 8 years, 240 hours after 17 years, 288 hours after 25 years, 336 hours after 30 years. Fire-staff members: 120 hours after 1 year, 160 hours after 8 years, 200 hours after 17 years, 240 hours after 25 years, 280 hours after 30 years. Fire-apparatus technician members: 80 hours after 1 year, 120 hours after 2 years, 160 hours after 8 years, 200 hours after 17 years, 240 hours after 25 years, 280 hours after 30 years. Fire-maintenance members: 76 hours after 1 year, 114 hours after 2 years, 152 hours after 8 years, 190 hours after 17 years, 228 hours after 25 years, 266 hours after 30 years. Fire-response paramedic members: 144 hours after 1 year, 192 hours after 8 years, 240 hours after 17 years, 288 hours after 25 years, 336 hours after 30 years.
Overtime: Double time for all extra hours worked. May be banked, maximum 40 double-time hours.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30%.
Dental: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20%.
STD: 90% of earnings, maximum 119 days.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 200% of annual salary.
Pension: Calgary Firefighter’s Supplementary Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 4 shifts for members of fire-suppression division or 7 days for members of fire-staff division and fire-mechanical-maintenance division for death in immediate family (mother, father, brother, sister, wife, husband, common-law spouse, child, foster-child, guardian, stepparent, stepbrother, stepsister, stepchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchild, grandparent of employ or spouse).
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay at overtime rate.
Probationary period: 1 year.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months. Absence from work (excluding approved vacation time and approved leave with pay) beyond 119 days will be added to 24-month period.
Uniforms/clothing: $15 per month for dry-cleaning. When employee performs duties in civilian clothing, clothing allowance will be paid, maximum $950 per year.
