Wages rise six per cent over three years of deal: CLAC
Employees of Orchard Retirement Residence in Vineland, Ont. voted in favour of ratifying their first collective agreement under the new owner, Chartwell, on Oct. 11.
The employees are members of Niagara Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC, Local 302.
The three-year agreement provides employees with wage increases of six per cent, as well as an additional wage bump for starting personal support workers during probation, a weekend premium and increases to vision benefits, says the union.
“This was a tough road of bargaining, but our committee really stood strong and helped get the members’ issues across to management,” says Matthew Barrett, CLAC representative.
